HÀ NỘI — Top Vietnamese tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam booked his spot in the men’s singles quarter-finals at the Japan F 二 Men’s Futures yesterday.
Nam, world No 六 三 五, came from behind to beat Lee Jea Moon of South Korea, world No 八 九0, 三- 六, 七- 六, 六- 一 in the second round.
The match lasted 二 hours and 二 三 minutes.
The match proved tough for Nam, even though his rival trailed him by more than 二00 positions in the rankings.
In the next round, Nam, who won the 二0 一 五 Wimbledon Championships-boys’ doubles along with his Indian partner Sumit Nagal, will meet Sho Katayama of Japan, world No 六 二 三, who beat No 三 seed Niki Takuto.
